I heard so much about Phuket, good things and also a lot of bad things. I finally decided to visit it by myself and to form my own opinion. Now after three days of spending there I still don’t know what I should think about it – there are some good but also some not so right sides about it. In this blog, I want to tell what I experienced, so you are prepared and know what you are getting into if you are planning on visit Phuket.
It seems as you can buy everything there (especially women)
Yes, Thailand is famous for the prostitutes, massages plus and go-go bars, but Phuket tops everything. When I was walking through the streets for 10 minutes, I got touched around 15 times, and they tried to drag me into a massage store. In the main party area, you can find the famous Ping-pong shows everywhere, and girls are dancing in Bikinis on the street. This might be the right thing for some people, but I don’t count myself to the people who need to buy women, and I never want to be in that position, so I found it a little too much.
The party is crazy
Some of the best clubs in the world – like Iluzion (Under the top 50 clubs in the world) – are located on that street. Endless clubs, bars, and places to have a good time can be found there. Everything starts at around 8 pm and continues deep into the night. I’m sure there are only a few places on the planet where you can find better parties for much less money. Even though it is expensive in the clubs, a beer costs only around 2,5 euros and a mixer around 4 euros. I don’t think that there is one quiet day on that street or anywhere in the city. In addition to that, a big Full moon party takes place on the island, the second biggest after Koh Pha-ngan.
The beach isn’t good at all
The main beach in Paton is one of the worst beaches I’ve seen so far and the worst in Southeast Asia. It’s overcrowded, dirty and not beautiful at all. There are some other beaches around the Island, but they are only reachable by taxi what results in a lot of extra costs.
You don’t get bored (Only in the evening)
If you need a break from partying all night until 6 am there are still plenty of other options to do in Phuket. You can have a fancy dinner in a restaurant next to the beach, go shopping in one of the shopping malls or visit the night market. As I always said there is also a big full moon party every month and Thai boxing fights. In the day the options are limited but as soon the sun goes down there are unlimited options to have fun and a good evening, if you want until the sun goes up again.
As I said, there are good and not so right sides about Phuket. It strongly depends on what you are looking for.
