In my last post, I told you about my trip to the Solang Valley by mountain bike, this time I went with a motorbike to the Jana falls and apart from the sportive part it was as amazing. It will take you about 1 and a half hour to reach the Jana falls by motorbike, and there you can hike up to the waterfalls for around 1 hour.
Motorbikes can be rented everywhere in Manali, and I paid 900 INR for a Royal Enfield 350cc. But you can also get scooters for cheaper, and they will also do the job. Just if you ride two people on one bike, I’m not sure if the scooters are strong enough. The road starts easy on a state road, and after about 15 km you’ll begin to the accent to the waterfalls. It’s a very nice road with a lot of sharp curves and through the forest. The trail is narrow, and you have to pay attention to vehicles coming from the other side, but it’s a lot of fun to ride there. The last kilometer is a bit more complicated as it is a dirt road and full of rocks.
After arriving at the base of the waterfalls, you can park your motorbike and hike up through the dense forest and find different smaller and bigger waterfalls. Just bear in mind that the waterfalls are quite high and if you’re not adequately acclimatized you will have difficulties, and you should keep it slow.
The best time to visit the waterfalls is between June and September after it’s getting cold and snow might cover the roads.
