Packing List for the Mount Everest Base Camp Trail

In my last post, I described the steps of preparation you have to take before you can hike the Mount Everest Base camp trail. One of the most important things is to get a proper lost of things you need and then buy them. Here is my list, but I would highly recommend to read some other blogs about the topic and form your list, I’m a guy and might need some other things like a girl, or you might do a shorter trek so the things you need might vary.

Packing list:

· Trekking permits

· Insurance (A right insurance which will cover a possible helicopter rescue is needed)

· Passport

· Painkiller

· Diamox

· Trekking shoes (Buy them in advance and walk a few times in them)

· Breathable Underwear 3x

· Normal underwear 3x to sleep in

· Trekking socks

· Warm trekking socks

· Normal socks for sleeping

· Cap for the sun

· Shoes for the tea houses

· Base Layer (thermal shirt)

· Trekking shirt

· Trecking trousers and shorts

· Fleece Jacket

· Insulated Jacket

· Rain cover for over the insulated jacket

· Buff

· Inner Gloves

· Outer Gloves

· Day pack

· Sleeping bag (at least – 10) (There will be blankets in the tea houses, so it doesn’t have to be a massive sleeping bag)

· Trekking poles

· Sunglasses

· Water bottle

· Headlamp

· Trekking towel

· Small locks

· Camera

· Go pro

· Charger for Phone, camera, and GoPro

· Headphones

· Portable battery

· Water purification tablets

· Life straw (A bottle with a filter, life-saving not only for this trek)

· Isotonic powder

· First aid kid

· Sunscreen

· Baby wipes

· Toiletries

· Blister Plasters

· Hand Sanitizer

· Enough cash (I take around 60.000 to be 100% sure)

· Dry shampoo

· three toilet paper rolls

· Powerbars

You can find all of these things in Kathmandu, but for the shoes, I would highly recommend to use them before already. Some of the stuff like a fleece or a sleeping bag you can also buy fake in Kathmandu in the Thamel area. These are no life-saving articles so that they can be false. The isolating jacket, base layer, and shoes, however, should be high quality and from a trusted brand.
